[Hiring] Part-time Research Assistant @Practice

Role Description

We're looking for a part-time researcher to support our founder's work identifying and evaluating opportunities to build new brands. You'll dig into markets, categories, and cultural trends, then translate that research into compelling decks and analysis for emerging brands and VC partners.

As a researcher, you'll be behind the scenes of how Practice decides which brands to build and how we build brands from concept, to formula, to market with founders and investors. You'll help spot white space in a category, size up market opportunities, and pull together the kind of sharp, well-argued analysis that shapes real business decisions. This isn't just research for research's sake; it will directly feed into brands that get built and launched.

Qualifications

  • Curious about markets, consumer behavior, and emerging categories
  • Experienced working on CPG brands
  • Comfortable moving between qualitative insight (cultural trends, competitive landscape) and quantitative analysis (market sizing, data)
  • Able to turn raw research into a clear, persuasive narrative
  • Detail-oriented, but able to zoom out and see the bigger strategic picture
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own time in a part-time capacity
  • Experienced collaborating with remote teams or teammates
  • Interested in using AI tools to work smarter, not just faster

Requirements

  • Experience in research, strategy, consulting, VC, or a related analytical field
  • A strong sense for storytelling through decks
  • Comfort building presentations
  • Familiarity with market research methods and sourcing credible data
  • Interest in consumer brands or early-stage business building
  • Curiosity about how AI can improve research and strategy workflows, and a willingness to help build and refine those processes
  • Native or fluent English
  • Available for a part-time schedule (hours to be discussed)
  • As part of the interview process, you'll walk us through a research project, deck, or analysis you've built

Benefits

  • This is a part-time contract position, compensated on either an hourly or day-rate basis depending on the scope of work.
  • Compensation is based on experience.
  • As part of your application, please include your current hourly or day rate, or your expected rate for this engagement.

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? 2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?
