Remote Work Available: No

Associate IT Business Analyst, Retail Enterprise Applications / Retail Technology (SAP-Based OMS & POS Platforms)

Department: Retail Technology (Enterprise Applications)

Reports To: Senior Manager, Retail Technology

Work Location: Remote

Position Summary The Junior Retail Analyst is an entry-level role supporting the analysis, documentation, and delivery of retail technology initiatives across the enterprise point-of-sale (POS) environment. The primary platform, OMS, is built on an SAP/ABAP backend with a frontend application layer, connected through integration middleware (SAP BTP Integration Suite / CPI) to a broader ecosystem of ecommerce, payments, supply chain, and third-party systems.

The role also touches additional POS and retail platforms within the environment.

This is an entry-level role with real ownership of day-to-day delivery.

The Junior Retail

Analyst reports to the Senior Manager, Retail Technology, and works alongside the Retail Analyst team on larger analysis and requirements work. As they grow, the analyst takes ownership of their own work items in ADO, works with developers, and follows tickets through testing, release, and post-release support — building the platform knowledge and analytical judgment needed to take on greater ownership over time.

The position is well suited for someone early in their career who is curious, detail-oriented, and eager to build expertise in how enterprise retail systems, integrations, and business processes fit together.

Key Responsibilities This role balances growth with hands-on ownership: the Junior Retail Analyst takes ownership of their own delivery tasks — from ticket creation through release and support — while working alongside the Retail Analyst team and the Manager on larger analysis and requirements work.

Business & Systems Analysis (Supporting)

  • Support the Retail Analyst team in gathering and documenting business needs across OMS and other POS platforms
  • Help translate operational challenges and business objectives into clear, structured notes and draft requirements
  • Trace how information moves across systems — the order lifecycle, inventory, pricing and promotions, and financial posting — and help flag gaps or inconsistencies
  • Support root cause analysis by gathering details, reproducing issues, and organizing findings for the Retail Analyst team
Requirements & Documentation Support
  • Assist in drafting Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and functional documentation with review from the Retail Analyst team
  • Help document current-state and future-state workflows across the platform and its integration points
  • Maintain and update documentation of system behavior, configurations, and known limitations
  • Help create structured artifacts such as:
  • Process flows and simple system/integration diagrams
  • Meeting notes, issue summaries, and resolution write-ups
  • Translate technical concepts into clear, business-friendly language
Escalation & Issue Support
  • Help gather information on escalated issues — screenshots, steps to reproduce, affected records — for the Retail Analyst team
  • Assist in documenting root causes and outcomes as directed
  • Keep issue notes and tracking organized for the team's reference
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Participate in working sessions and project discussions to understand the business context and capture clear notes
  • Coordinate with teams such as Retail Operations, OMS Development, Integration (CPI), Application Support, Supply Chain, Ecommerce, Finance, and Compliance with guidance from the Retail Analyst team
  • Begin to act as a connection point between business stakeholders and technical teams, with support from the Retail Analyst team
Enhancement, Release & UAT
  • Document and validate system enhancements, fixes, and releases
  • Write and run test scenarios based on requirements and real-world use cases
  • Take ownership of user acceptance testing (UAT) execution — running test cases, documenting defects, and confirming outcomes prior to release
  • Support go-live readiness through documentation, validation, and post-release tracking
ADO, Development & Release
  • Take ownership of their own ADO work items — writing clear, complete tickets with business context, requirements, acceptance criteria, and traceability to the underlying need
  • Work with developers to refine tickets, answer questions, and understand how work moves from requirement to build
  • Follow tickets through the full development lifecycle — from intake and grooming through build, testing, and release
  • Coordinate and support releases, tracking readiness and confirming work is validated before it goes to production
  • Provide post-release support — monitoring outcomes, helping triage issues, and following up on fixes
  • Keep the backlog organized and priorities visible across the team
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 0–1 years of experience; internships, coursework, or project work in business/systems analysis or retail technology is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical mindset and genuine curiosity about how systems and business processes work
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Eagerness to take direction, apply feedback, and grow within a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Comfort with everyday tools such as Excel/Word and adaptability with new platforms
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Exposure to or familiarity with enterprise systems such as SAP (or comparable ERP/enterprise platforms) — a plus, not required
  • Any familiarity with integration concepts, APIs, or how systems exchange data
  • Any exposure to POS systems, ecommerce platforms, or retail operations
  • Familiarity with technologies such as ABAP, CPI, or frontend/web applications is a bonus — you will be trained on what you need
  • Coursework or interest in documentation, requirements writing, or process mapping
Core Competencies
  • Openness to feedback and continuous growth
  • Attention to detail and structured thinking
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Curiosity and systems thinking
  • Reliability and organization
  • Collaboration and a team-first mindset
Role Positioning
  • An entry-level role with hands-on ownership of day-to-day delivery — building ADOs, working with developers, and following tickets through release and support
  • Reports to the Senior Manager, Retail Technology, and works alongside the Retail Analyst team on larger analysis and requirements work
  • Grows toward greater ownership of analysis and requirements over time
  • A foundational step toward a full Retail Analyst career path
