In your role, you will support adults where they live, work, and play with their use of assistive/enabling technology.

Please Note: This position requires working from a designated Charles Lea Center location in Spartanburg, SC for overnight monitoring duties. Employees must also be available to travel to other local Charles Lea Center sites as needed during their shift. Applicants should reside in or near the Upstate South Carolina area to meet the on-site response requirements of this role. Please note that relocation assistance is not available for this position.

About the Role

The Remote Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Enabling Technology Manger with a focus of supporting adults where they live, work, and play with their use of assistive/enabling technology. The

Remote Support Specialist provides support to individuals and staff of the Charles Lea Center.

While operating remotely they are ensuring the safety and resolution of issues related to monitoring individuals and the systems in place during the overnight hours. They are also responsible for ensuring that systems are working correctly and responding to any events that may arise during the night. This role is critical in maintaining smooth operational workflows and delivering quality care to the individuals we serve.

Essential Duties

  • Assist with monitoring of support technologies used with programs (Simply Home, Ring, etc.).

  • Responds to all alerts that are generated by remote support systems. (This means text, email, or phone call)

  • Follow specific backup plans in case of emergency or incident that may occur in the night.

  • Serves as an advocate for people’s independence and choices.

  • Trouble shoots, repairs, or coordinate the repairs of technology devices that are not functioning properly.

  • Models’ person-centered thinking continually.

  • Attend team meetings as appropriate.

  • Completes appropriate documentation timely.

  • Attends any required training related to updates to current technology and/or new assistive technology products.
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues related to hardware, and network connectivity.
  • Ensure cameras and other innovative service technology function properly by conducting walkthrough tests and calls.
  • Documenting on an hourly and nightly basis on any events such as incidents or technical outages throughout the night.
  • Conduct Fire drills based on staff schedule.
  • Travel to locations during the night to conduct tests on systems and checks.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for individuals through the night and act as the first responder for the area they are located in.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service while handling issues.

    Communicate key technical information to innovative service staff and managers.

What You'll need

  • Minimum of High School Diploma.
  • Experience in Microsoft OS, Apple IOS, & Android platforms required.
  • Experience in using applications such as Teams, Ring, Wyze, Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Preferred, one year's experience in technology-based work or monitoring.
  • Able to follow detailed instructions and work independently with guidance from Supervision.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • General understanding of Person-Centered Thinking plus good communication skills and works effectively as part of a team.
  • Professional, dependable, creative, and team oriented

Work Environment

CLC will provide the remote staff with the devices needed to complete all remote monitoring duties. All devices will have all systems and apps downloaded and installed, ensuring that they are working properly.

Staff will work in and out of Remote home locations while traveling through the night.

Devices supplied: iPhone, laptop, tablet, binder, bookbag, flashlight, and charging cables for all devices.

Device Storage

All devices are to be stored at the main remote monitoring location after each shift. Staff should not take devices home this allows for the devices to be available for services such as updating and/or replacement.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by employees to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and visit inside homes to perform tasks such as test and troubleshooting technology.

This position may require the ability to lift at minimum lift 50 pounds or more, as well as assist with transferring and positioning individuals, as necessary to meet the needs of those served.

Travel

The job entails travelling to various locations in Spartanburg County and occasionally other areas within the state during the night hours. The remote monitoring staff will work on 3rd shift, monitoring the
