Sr. Manager, Merchandising

About the position

The Sr. Manager, Merchandising will partner with the VP of Merchandising to create and implement seasonal line plans, analyze sell-through data, develop pricing strategies, and identify growth opportunities. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Design, Sales, Product Development, and Production, ensuring cohesive processes and alignment with business strategies. The position involves market research to stay aware of trends and competitive positioning, and assisting the merchandising team in developing balanced assortments and financial forecasts.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the VP of Merchandising to create and implement seasonal line plans by delivery and style/SKU to achieve business strategies.
  • Gather and analyze sell-through hindsighting from global cross-functional partners.
  • Develop price tiers and pricing architecture to guide Design in furthering the women’s line.
  • Identify key items and growth opportunities by category and style.
  • Establish wholesale and retail price points based on margin targets and perceived price value.
  • Edit line with Design to build a balanced assortment covering global market needs and Design’s vision.
  • Guide bulk buy process to communicate Design’s vision and ensure it reflects business strategy and hits production timeline.
  • Communicate cross-functionally to bridge Design, Sales, Product Development and Production to ensure cohesive processes.
  • Shop the market to be aware of trends, competitive price positioning, and market share.
  • Assist the Merchandising team with the creation and implementation of seasonal line plans by delivery and style/SKU to achieve business strategies.
  • Assist in the development of price tiers and pricing architecture.
  • Work in partnership with the head of Merchandising to build balanced lines for Women’s Main line and MFO channels, based on empirical data and sales analyses.
  • Collaborate with head of Merchandising to develop analytical models, systems, and processes to manage, measure, and evaluate retail (& wholesale) performance.
  • Partner closely with planning team to track seasonal sales orders ensuring optimal procurement levels.
  • Analyzes historical data, current business trends, and management insight to develop accurate class financial forecasts.
  • Develops pre-season assortment plans that tie back to the monthly procurement targets and financial budget plans.
  • Track and monitor key items and growth opportunities by category and style.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining weekly/monthly cross-functional reporting tools.
  • Additional ad hoc projects and responsibilities as required to support the Merchandising department.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant merchandising experience
  • Must have strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Must have strong business acumen with ability to think strategically
  • Must have exceptional analytical skills
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented
  • Must have proven ability to work with a cross-functional team
  • Strong knowledge of trends and competitive market are essential to success in this position
