We work in partnership with Missouri public school districts to provide retirement security for Missouri's public school teachers and education employees.<br><br>Our 180 employees work out of locations in St. Louis, Missouri and on the west side of Jefferson City, Missouri. Our office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and many positions have scheduling flexibility within those hours. Employees enjoy ample on-site parking and a flexible, employee-centered work environment.<br><br><strong>About The Job<br><br></strong>PSRS/PEERS Private Markets Investments Interns have the unique opportunity to be a part of the investment team of an award winning, world-class institutional investment program, with an internship experience particularly focused on private equity and private credit asset classes. The market value of total invested assets for PSRS/PEERS is approximately $65 billion as of December 31, 2025. Private equity and private credit have target allocations of up to 21% and 8%, respectively of plan assets. The primary focus of the investment program is to achieve an annual return of at least 7.3% over long periods of time. PSRS/PEERS attempts to reduce overall portfolio risk by diversifying into several asset classes including both public and private investments, across both domestic and international markets.<br><br>As Private Markets Investments Intern, you will support the PSRS/PEERS Private Equity and Private Credit ("Private Markets") investment team, overseeing approximately $14 billion of assets. You will assist with diverse, high impact tasks and projects, both ongoing and as assigned. You will gain valuable knowledge and experience across private markets, particularly in the underwriting, management, and monitoring of the Private Markets Portfolio. This position reports directly to the Investment Officer, Private Markets and will work closely with members across the broader Private Markets team. It is a paid position with flexible scheduling, located at our office on the west side of St. Louis, Missouri.<br><br><strong>Job Requirements<br><br></strong>Our ideal candidate is a current university student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics or a related field.<br><br><strong>Our Private Markets Investments Intern Should<br><br></strong><ul><li> Have a natural interest in, or an openness to, learning about private equity, private credit, and alternative investments broadly</li><li> Be an intellectually curious and open-minded team player who works well independently and in team situations and can establish positive working relationships with our staff</li><li> Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li> Have knowledge of finance and investment principles and practices, the methods and techniques used for financial analysis, and administrative organization and support processes</li><li> Be skilled in preparing reports and presentations and maintaining physical and electronic files</li><li> Be skilled in the use of a personal computer and standard business software including Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience building or maintaining databases is a plus</li><li> Periodic and infrequent day travel to the PSRS/PEERS Jefferson City, MO office is anticipated</li></ul>
