<strong>THE PURPOSE OF THIS POSTING IS TO ESTABLISH A TRANSFER LIST FOR CURRENT CITY OF PASADENA EMPLOYEES WHO ARE ALREADY IN THIS CLASSIFICATION.<br><br>FOR INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRANSFER PROCESS AND REQUIREMENTS, PLEASE REFER TO SECTION 4.F OF THE </strong><a href="http://www.cityofpasadena.net/Department.aspx?theme=Olive&pageid=6442453787"><strong>MANUAL OF PERSONNEL & ADMINISTRATIVE RULES</strong></a><strong>.<br>Please note that a transfer application, once accepted, is active for one year.</strong><br><br><strong>GENERAL PURPOSE</strong><br>Under general supervision, performs skilled maintenance work and serves in a lead capacity over other Public Works Maintenance Workers and performs related work as required.These functions may not be present in all positions in this class. When a position is to be filled, the essential functions will be noted in the announcement of position availability.<ul><li>Performs skilled work while engaged in the maintenance, repair and/or construction of streets, alleys, storm drains, sewers, parks, sidewalks, curbs, traffic signs and marking, street trees, and street lights and traffic signals.<li>Operates light and heavy equipment.<li>Maintains equipment inventory and records.<li>May requisition materials and supplies.<li>Prepares streets, parks, recreation areas, parking lots and other public facilities for parades and other special events.<li>Leads the activities of subordinates under the general direction of a Public Works Maintenance Foreman or a Maintenance Supervisor.</ul>Education and/or Experience<br>Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance would qualify. For example: three years of maintenance or construction experience in at least three (3) of the following public works maintenance functions: sewer and storm drain maintenance; park or Rose Bowl maintenance; roadway maintenance; street cleaning; solid waste collection; traffic painting and signs; street lights and signals; and street trees.<br><br>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities<br>Knowledge of the organization, procedures, tools, equipment and materials used in public works operations, maintenance and repair activities.<br><br>Ability to use hand and power tools, operate and maintain light and heavy equipment, physical strength and agility to lift up to 60 lbs, bend in all directions, squeeze with arms and hands, pull and lower up to 60 lbs; understand written and oral instructions, read and prepare written reports, instruct subordinates and maintain effective relations with employees and the public.<div>Incumbents in this classification may be rotated among the various public works maintenance operations. The workshift may include weekends and holidays on a rotating or permanent basis and night shift when assigned to street cleaning operations.<br><br>Must posses or have the ability to obtain a valid Class B California Driver's License within six months of hire and as a condition of continued employment.<br><br>Enrollment in approved college-level public works and supervisory courses will be required within six months of appointment and are to be continued until a minimum of nine college units have been completed. (Proof of satisfactory completion of these courses will be required.)</div>
